PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner Certification Training FAQs in Dublin
Why has AXELOS developed an agile product?
Since its formation, AXELOS has sought to engage with the user community through workshops and online surveys. The strong message we heard through these channels was that we needed to demonstrate how our products remain relevant and fit with other approaches and frameworks. This new development is a natural extension from those early engagements.
Changes made back in 2009 made PRINCE2® fully compatible with agile delivery approaches, the easiest way of looking at this is to run the project with PRINCE2 and the work packages with agile. PRINCE2 has never stipulated the means of delivering work packages as these are industry-specific.
Who is PRINCE2 Agile® aimed at?
PRINCE2 Agile is an extension module for PRINCE2® Practitioners and so all eligible candidates must already have passed the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination.
PRINCE2 Agile is not a software or IT-only approach, as many other industries also use iterative, timebound or flow approaches. PRINCE2 Agile is designed to be industry agnostic.
Is PRINCE2 Agile® supported by training and a qualification?
The guidance is supported by a single-tier qualification and accredited training to support its use by individuals and organizations.
How much will PRINCE2 Agile® cost and how long will it take?
The cost of PRINCE2 Agile training and examinations will be set by the individual Accredited Training Organizations and Examination Institutes.
The course will run over three days, with the exam at the end of the third day.
Do I need PRINCE2® Foundation and/or Practitioner qualifications before I can take PRINCE2 Agile®?
As this qualification is an extension unit aimed at supporting PRINCE2® Practitioners working in an agile environment, prior knowledge of PRINCE2 is required, therefore you must already have the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification in order to take the PRINCE2 Agile exam.
Will there be a route in for those who do not have a PRINCE2® qualification?
We recognize that those in an agile delivery world that interfaces with a PRINCE2 project management environment may also want to understand this crucial relationship. This is under active consideration and has yet to be finalized. We are looking at a range of topics and plan to consult the agile community at a later stage of the project.
How does the product relate to PRINCE2® (and the wider PPM portfolio)?
PRINCE2 Agile® is being offered as an extension qualification for those who already have a good understanding of PRINCE2. It will also be of interest for Programme Managers with Managing Successful Programmes (MSP®) certification who will need to understand not only how the programme relates to projects, but also how projects relate to the delivery mechanism.
The majority of the guidance and course material will be new for those already familiar with PRINCE2, and will look at the interactions between the two approaches and how each needs to be adapted to accommodate the other.
Where does PRINCE2 Agile® fit alongside other qualifications such as PMP and APM?
In exactly the same way that PRINCE2® fits with PMBoK and APMBoK. PRINCE2 provides the end to end process that neither PMBoK nor APMBoK provide, whereas PMBoK and APMBoK provide the knowledge and skills that Project Managers need (and that PRINCE2 assumes). In many respects they have a different focus: PRINCE2 provides the processes that any organization requires, but PMBoK and APMBoK focus on the things that the project needs to know.
Will PRINCE2 Agile® be included in AXELOS' Professional Development Programme?
Completing your PRINCE2 Agile qualification will earn you 15 continuing professional development (CPD) points towards maintaining your PRINCE2® qualification other than through re-sitting the exam.
Is the qualification offered through Examination Institutes (EIs)?
Yes, the qualification is available through AXELOS' licensed Examination Institutes.
